What exactly is Paisley?

This pattern, often called Turkish in Poland, comes from India or Iran and is over two thousand years old. In ancient times, it was used to decorate fabrics, insignia of regal power and clothes. The pattern reached Europe along with cashmere shawls. When the 8th century manufactures in Scotland started the production of fabrics with this motif, it was named Paislay – after the seat of the manufactures. Since then, the pattern gained huge popularity in Europe and the United States.

Glass Christmas baubles reap from the world's treasury of designs and motives to the full. It was only a matter of time for Paislay to come into view among Christmas decorations to adorn Christmas baubles - just as our bauble presented here.

Let's have a closer look at it. On a beautiful gleaming navy blue background, there are tiny glass beads forming a typical teardrop twisted at the narrower end. This is exactly what paislay shape looks like. It is framed with well-defined dots made with blue glitter. In the centre of every teardrop, delicate flowers are blooming on leaves, created with rainbow pearls and petal navy blue glitter. The whole thing is very neutral and elegant, kept in uniform dark blue colour scheme.
